It’s Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 22, 2012.
The sun is shining, talk radio’s chugging along and the oldest Turkey Day Parade in the nation is now under way.
Sure, New York City’s Macy’s Parade might be bigger, better or more famous. But there’s something to be said about being the oldest.
Ours is older. There, I said it!
So Happy Thanksgiving! And be sure to avoid the parade route:
Parade route:The parade starts at 20th and JFK Blvd, heads east on JFK to 16th Street, north on 16th to the Ben Franklin Parkway, west on the Parkway in the south side inner lanes to the south side of Logan Circle, continuing west to the south side of Eakins Oval and the Art Museum reviewing stand. It then Departs the reviewing stand via Kelly Drive to Sedgley Drive.
Parade detours:Southbound Kelly Drive will be detoured through the park at Fountain Green Drive to Oxford Drive and 33rd Street. The Eastbound I-76 exit onto the Spring Garden Street Bridge will be detoured west onto Spring Garden Street and 31st Street. JFK Blvd will be closed from 19th Street to Schuylkill Avenue.
