Detours on Rt. 13 in Delaware

Construction this weekend could cause headaches for Delaware drivers on Route 13 near Middletown.

Delaware drivers using Route 13 near Middletown will have to deal with a detour this weekend.  Route 13 will be shut down to through traffic in both directions at Boyds Corner From 7 PM Friday through 6 AM Monday, September 21.

The road closure is being put in place so work can begin on adding an additional lane on Route 13 in each direction from Greylag Road to Augustine Creek.  The project will also add turn lanes from Boyds Corner Road onto Route 13.

DelDOT will force drivers onto Route 1 as a detour.  The tolls at Pole Bridge Road will be suspended while the road is closed.  While the detour is only expected to be in place through early Monday morning, the whole construction project won’t be completed until next fall.
