Delco mayor killed in skydiving accident

    Mayor of Rutledge Scott Shields died Friday afternoon in a skydiving accident at Freefall Adventures in Gloucester County, N.J.From a jump at 13,000 feet Shields’ primary and reserve parachutes failed to deploy.  Shields crashed in a wooded area and was pronounced dead at the Underwood Memorial Hospital, reports the Delco Times.Causes of why the parachutes were never released or malfunctioned are still being determined.To read more about the life and death of Mayor Scott Shields, 45, see Timothy Logue’s report in the Delco Times.
