Delaware senator sponors permanent bath salt ban

Delaware’s General Assembly hasn’t yet reconvened, but Sen. Bethany Hall-Long is getting a jump on things. Yesterday, she announced plans to make the state’s bath salt ban permanent.

The immediate ban that Gov. Jack Markell signed in October is set to expire later this month, and Hall-Long, a nurse by trade, wants to see the synthetic drug banned for good.

According to the Wilmington News Journal, since the temporary ban went into effect, most retailers haven’t restocked and some ERs have seen a large decline in the number of patients high on the hallucinogen.

Pennsylvania and New Jersey have taken similar steps to ban the substance.
