Delaware River port welcomes its largest-ever container ship

The largest container ship to ever dock at a Delaware River port is sliding in tonight. The MSC Laura is coming to Packer Avenue Marine Terminal at 7 p.m.
At more than 1,000 feet long, the 6,750 TEU vessel requires a depth of 45 feet of water, making it too large to navigate the Delaware River’s 40-foot shipping canal. Though it won’t be fully loaded upon arrival, the MSC Laura’s visit highlights the possibilities Delaware dredging could open up.
