Delaware’s Fraternal Order of Police is raising money to help take care of the 3 year old daughter of fallen Georgetown police officer Chad Spicer.
Spicer was shot and killed during a foot chase in Georgetown on September 1. The Georgetown native was just a day shy of his one year anniversary of serving his hometown police department.
The Delaware FOP is hosting a fundraising event for his daughter, Aubrey Spicer, this Saturday at the Bottle and Cork in Dewey Beach from 7 p.m. until closing.
“I think in Delaware we’ve seen such a great response because you just don’t expect this to happen in Delaware, FOP President Vincent Disabatino said. “We’ve lost officers in the past five years to accidents, but this is a deliberate murderous act that was committed on a police officer and I think that’s what’s shocked the state and has made the response so overwhelming for this poor 3 year old girl who is left without a father now.”
The FOP also collected funds for Aubrey Spicer’s trust at a Wilmington Blue Rocks games over Labor Day Weekend. A golf tournament is also in the works.
The Bottle and Cork is located at:
