Del. school forfeits 6 wins in 2010 quiz bowl

The Charter School of Wilmington has forfeited six wins in a national quiz tournament in 2010 because a member of the team allegedly broke the rules.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports that the former team member allegedly exploited a computer loophole in the tournament that allowed him to see questions that would have appeared on quizzes.

Officials with the National Academic Quiz Tournaments announced sanctions against schools last week.

Quiz bowl tournaments are rapid-fire question-and-answer games that require students to draw on knowledge and academic skills.
