Defending history

    A Philadelphia activist is defending the President’s House after a New York Times columnist called the historic marker a distortion of history.

    Michael Coard of Avenging the Ancestors Coalition said the house, designed to reflect the one George Washington lived in with nine slaves as he served as the nation’s first president from Philadelphia, focuses on freedom versus slavery and told CBS3: “[Columnist Edward] Rothstein is blinded by racial indifference and cultural insensitivity.”
