Death probed of son of Seaside Heights, N.J. mayor

Authorities are investigating whether drugs played a role in the death of the son of the mayor of Seaside Heights.

Twenty-nine-year-old William Akers died Thursday.

A spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office tells the Asbury Park Press a man has been arrested for drug distribution in connection with the investigation. Al Della Fave says authorities are awaiting toxicology tests to determine the cause of death, but narcotics were found at the scene.

Authorities have charged 28-year-old Jashon Brinson of Lakewood with possession of heroin and possession of the drug with intent to distribute it.
