Dangerous night on the tracks: 1 dead, 7 injured

Two separate incidents on the area’s train tracks last night have left one man dead and several others injured.

An unidentified man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Coatesville at around 4:20 p.m. Friday. NBC10 reports that the victim was trespassing on the tracks when a train travelling from Harrisburg to New York hit him.

According to ABC6, seven people were injured when two cars “became uncoupled” on SEPTA’s high-speed line in Norristown around 7:45 p.m. on Friday night.

The two cars disconnected and then reconnected at the Beechwood Brookline station causing injuries to six people in one car and one person in the second car, sending one of the injured passengers to the hospital with what are being reported as minor injuries. The rest of the passengers were treated on the scene.
