DA: Murder-suicide outside Philadelphia-area YMCA

Prosecutors say a fatal shooting in the parking lot of a suburban Philadelphia YMCA was an apparent murder-suicide.

Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan says a man shot his former girlfriend near an outdoor pool around 6 p.m. Monday and then waited until police arrived before shooting and killing himself.

Hogan described the shooting as a “domestic situation.” He did not release the names of the people involved.

More than 100 people, including children in day care and after-school programs, were inside the Brandywine branch of YMCA of the Brandywine Valley at the time.
