Cumberland County prison inmates make New Jersey’s license plates

Not only do New Jersey prison inmates really make license plates, it happens right in our region at Bayside State Prison in Cumberland County.

The Star-Ledger has a feature story today from inside the prison where inmates produce more than one million plates per year — and look for their handiwork in news stories. It’s worth checking out.

Inmates earn nominal hourly wages and learn skills they could potentially apply in the workforce upon release.
