Crews battle 3-alarm blaze in Kingsessing

At about 11 p.m. last night a fire broke out in a vacant building at 52nd and Pentridge Streets in Southwest Philadelphia.

Authorities say that the flames ripped through the abandoned garage and forced the evacuation of nearby row homes, reported NBC10. Crews continue to investigate the cause of the fire. “Neighbors say kids were setting off fireworks in that area before the flames broke out.”

CBS3 reports that as many as 70 residents had to be evacuated from their homes. According to authorities, the storage facility has been vacant since 2006.
