CREW leader to speak at UD

Leader of Christine O’Donnell’s arch-enemy CREW, Melanie Sloan will speak tonight at the University of Delaware’s Mitchell Hall tonight.

Sloan is the executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington or CREW.  During last year’s Senate race, CREW filed a complaint against O’Donnell with the Federal Election Commission.  The complaint accused O’Donnell of using campaign funds to pay for living expenses in 2009 and 2010.   CREW alleges that O’Donnell used $20,000 in campaign funds to pay for living expenses in 2009 and 2010.

Earlier this year, U.S. Attorney Charles Oberly announced that his office had completed its investigation into the claims and would not be pursuing criminal charges.  At the same time, O’Donnell called on Oberly to in turn investigate Sloan and CREW, claiming their initial complaint against O’Donnell was based on false statements.
