Fourth District City Councilman Curtis Jones Jr. will host the sixth annual Block Captain Boot Camp at the Salvation Army Kroc Center this Saturday.

The event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the center located near the Germantown/East Falls border in Northwest Philadelphia.

It is designed to offer “leadership and organizational training for our on-the-ground community organizers,” according to Morgan Cephas, who organized the boot camp.

In a promotional video for the event, Jones said it provides an opportunity for block captains to gather and exchange ideas, “collaborate on how to build a stronger community” and receive information from various agencies.
