Corbett orders state flags be flown at half-staff for Paterno

Until former Penn State University football coach Joe Paterno is buried, Pennsylvania flags will fly at half-staff.

So ordered Gov. Tom Corbett in an announcement today following the 85-year-old’s death.
Paterno died Sunday after a brief battle with lung cancer, which his family announced just days after the university’s board of trustees fired the long-time coach for his failure to act on child sex abuse allegations against former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

Corbett today invited all Pennsylvanians to join in the flag tribute, which is in place until Paterno is interred.
