Corbett orders Pennsylvania flags lowered for fallen firefighters

Pa. Gov. Tom Corbett Friday ordered all U.S. and state flags at the Capitol Complex to be lowered to half-staff for National Firefighters Memorial Day. Commonwealth facilities around the state will do the same.

Flags will be lowered Sunday, and residents are encouraged to do the same with their flags. Meanwhile, flags have been flying at half-staff for Lower Burrell Police Officer Derek Kotecki. Kotecki was killed Wednesday outside Pittsburgh while pursuing a suspect. Flags will fly low for him through his funeral Monday.
