Corbett expected to appoint Feather Houstoun to newly vacant Philly SRC post

Another Philadelphia School Reform Commission member is stepping down and Pa. Gov. Tom Corbett is ready with a new appointee.

The Public School Notebook reports Denise McGregor Armbrister has tendered her resignation, leaving Joseph Dworetkzy as the only SRC member left who started the 2011-2012 school year.

Sources say Corbett will appoint Feather Houstoun, former head of the William Penn Foundation, to the empty seat. His first nomination, Pedro Ramos, is awaiting Senate approval.

Former SRC Chair Robert Archie and member John Irizarry both resigned last month, making way for Rutgers-Camden Chancellor Wendell Pritchett and author/educator Lorene Cary — both appointed by Mayor Michael Nutter.
