Computergate testimony: Perzel wanted to be governor

If things had gone differently, would Pennsylvania have a Gov. John Perzel?

That’s what Perzel was hoping for, according to testimony today from former special assistant William Tomaselli. Tomaselli said yesterday in court that public and political work often overlapped during Perzel’s term as Speaker of the House, and the Associated Press reports today Perzel’s campaign had a five-year plan for the road to the governor’s office.

Called “The Road to 2035 North Front Street,” the plan outlined what was needed for a 2010 gubernatorial run. Perzel has already pleaded guilty in the corruption case, admitted to using taxpayer-funded technology to push his re-election campaign.
