Clothing company pulls ad featuring Pope lip-lock
Did Pope Benedict XV! make out with Sheik Ahmed el-Tayeb of Cairo? You can bet not, but he appears to be doing so in an ad for Benetton clothing company.
The ad has been pulled but the damage is done, the Associated Press reports. It was part of a series of fake photos depicting political nemeses kissing. The other Unhate ads are still on the company’s website, but the Vatican has threatened legal action for what it calls an offensive and insulting mock photo of the Pope’s kiss.
Other ads feature President Barack Obama kissing Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez and North Korean leader Kim Jong Il kissing South Korean President Lee Myung-bak.
