Federal judges refuse stay for Pa. inmate

Federal judges have rejected both of a Pennsylvania death row inmate’s requests for a stay of his execution on Thursday.

U.S. District Judges John Jones and Yvette Kane turned down the request in separate cases.

The state Board of Pardons is scheduled to hear 56-year-old Hubert Michael’s request Wednesday afternoon. He’s scheduled to die by lethal injection at Rockview State Prison.

Michael pleaded guilty to the July 1993 murder of 16-year-old Trista Elizabeth Eng, after kidnapping her in York County, about a half-hour south of Harrisburg.
