Clammer missing after boat runs aground in Ocean County [photos]

A search is ongoing for a missing clammer whose boat was found empty in Little Egg Harbor.

The Coast Guard, New Jersey State Police, and the Tuckerton Fire Department are using a helicopter and a boat to search for the fisherman, whose boat was found aground on Hither Island in Ocean County.

The Coast Guard launched a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Atlantic City and a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Station Barnegat Light around 8 a.m. today.

The fisherman, whose name was not released, contacted a relative around 8 p.m. yesterday that he had run aground but did not need assistance.
