City kicks off new career program with South Philly concert

A concert might not sound like the best way to promote education and careers, but the City of Philadelphia has a trick up its sleeve this weekend.

A group of city officials will hold a concert this afternoon at Wilson Park Rec Center in South Philadelphia as a kick-off event for the opening of its Philadelphia Youth Music Program.
R&B artist Rell will perform before students and young city residents get a peek at the facility that will offer music recording, engineering, sound set-up and production skills training for people looking to make careers for themselves in the music industry.

The event bigs at 3 p.m. — hopefully after the wintry mix we’re expecting clears up.
