Citizens Bank will close six Philadelphia-area locations

Citizens Bank has announced it will close six local branches and consolidate two others. An additional closing could happen in Delaware.

The Philadelphia Business Journal reports the news comes after last month’s announcement that nine area branches would close and 250 people would be laid off.

One branch each in Roxborough and West Philadelphia will close, plus two in Montgomery County, one in Delaware County and one in Audubon, N.J. Last month, one closing in Delaware was promised, as well. The Broomall branch inside an Acme Supermarket will merge into the branch at the Lawrence Park Shopping Center, and the Flourtown site will cozy up with the branch at Bethlehem Pike and East Mill Road.

The closures are due in part to the popularity of mobile banking and changing branch traffic patterns.
