Citizens Bank Park Aramark workers host Saturday rally

Fans are holding their breath as the Phillies head into the NLDS and Citizens Bank Park Aramark workers are holding out for a better contract.

Members of Unite Here Local 274 will rally today outside the stadium to fight for their three contract sticking points: wages, benefits and opportunity to work.

“We’re now forced to begin to bring the issue to the fans and to the Phillies, to let folks know what’s going on with the people who serve the food, serve the drinks and sell the merchandise at Citizens Bank Park,” Rosslyn Wuchinich of UNITE HERE Local 274 told reporter Lizz Fiedler in a Sept. 19 interview.

Since voting down the Aramark contract offer Sept. 18, workers have been distributing leaflets outside the stadium.

““The Phillies sold more tickets and won more games this year than any other team in baseball,” concessions stand attendant Briheem Douglas said in a Unite Here release Friday. “We deserve to be a part of that success.”
