Republican candidate Chris Christie traveled to Camden to speak about his program promoting education vouchers for those who cannot afford a private school. He says the idea is one whose time has come.
Christie: Fact is whatever political ramifications that has, it has. I absolutely believe children in our cities are being cheated and the children in our cities are being imprisoned by a failed school system.
Rutgers University Professor Richard Harris says Christie could be targeted by the state teachers union because of his position. Governor Jon Corzine supports funding partly on how many children go to a school, which benefits suburban school districts because of population migration.
