Child shot in Wilmington by 11 year old brother

Police say a 7-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting at a Wilmington home.

Cpl. Mark Ivey says the boy was shot in the hand at a home on Delamore Place around 10 p.m. Monday.  Ivey says the initial investigation inidicates the victim’s 11-year-old brother found a gun in the home and “unknowingly fired the weapon.”  He says the investigation is still ongoing and no charges have been filed yet.

He says the victim was taken to Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children with an injury that is not thought to be life-threatening.
