Sometimes it’s hard to believe Chestnut Hill is in Philadelphia

NewsWorks wanted you to see the neighborhood with a fresh perspective. We asked Peter Tobia to roam around and photograph whatever he thought was interesting. That was the assignment. He did great. Take a look at the slide show of Chestnut Hill through the “Eye of Tobia”.

You may not realize it but probably have already seen Peter Tobia’s photographs before. Tobia worked as a staff photojournalist for The Philadelphia Inquirer from 1993 to 2008. He covered local, national and international stores including assigments in Somalia, Sierra Leone, India and the Niger Delta. Tobia was also assigned to cover the conflict in Pakistan and Afghanistan after 9/11 and the conflict throughout Iraq in 2003.

He is currently working on a book of photographs and words about his five-year-old son along with observations and reflections on being an older, second-time-around father.

You can see more of his work at his website.
