Chestnut Hill College renews Sister Carol Jean Vale’s contract as President

Chestnut Hill College reappointed Sister Carol Jean Vale as President for a fifth five-year term from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2017. This reappointment was unanimously approved after a review of Sister Carol’s achievements as president from 2006 – 2011 and an articulation of her vision for the next five years.

Among her recent accomplishments was winning the support of the Chestnut Hill Community Association for the college’s expansion plans at its Sugarloaf campus.

The revised plan includes several easements on the property, which would prevent high-density development by protecting certain areas from development and ensuring that the buildings will not be visible from the street. In the end, 17 members of the Chestnut Hill Community Association board endorsed CHC’s master and wanted it to move forward.

Sister Carol joined the College faculty in 1988 and as chair of the religious studies department, designed and implemented the curriculum for the Master of Arts program in Holistic Spirituality and Spiritual Direction. She is also a graduate of Chestnut Hill College.
