Chester among six U.S. cities to participate in new fed. initiative program

    The City of Chester on Monday learned it was one of six cities nationwide selected to participate in a new federal initiative to help channel federal resources and spur economic growth in urban areas.

    The Daily Times reports the initiative, “Strong Cities, Strong Communities” will establish Community Solutions Teams in each of the six cities selected to participate.

    The Daily Times says the teams will assist local governments and private sectors to leverage federal dollars and assist with community development.

    According to the report, Chester is the smallest among the six cities chosen, which include Cleveland, Detroit, New Orleans, Memphis, Tenn. and Fresno, California.
