Changing faces of New Jersey Surpeme Court

As one New Jersey Supreme Court justice is sworn in, another retires.

Today was the swearing-in ceremony for Anne Patterson and yesterday marked Roberto Rivera-Soto’s retirement, as the Associated Press notes. It’s part of a deal Gov. Chris Christie made with the Legislature.

Dems initially blocked Patterson’s nomination when they became frustrated with Christie for not renominating Justice John Wallace for tenure, but agreed to approve Patterson to replace Rivera-Soto, who was censured for interfering in a dispute between his son and a classmate.
