Car crashes into Philly firehouse, damaging ambulance

A suspected drowsy driver is hospitalized with cuts to the face after crashing his car through Philadelphia firehouse door and damaging an ambulance.

Police say the driver may have fallen asleep before the crash around 1:45 a.m. Friday at Engine 52 in the Wissinoming section of Northeast Philadelphia.

The driver is listed in stable condition at Aria Hospital Frankford. No other injuries were reported.

Police say the crash damaged an ambulance that’s been in service for three months and other equipment.
