Cape May County approves bid for emergency bridge repairs
Cape May County has approved a bid from a Cherry Hill company to do emergency repair work on the Corsons Inlet Bridge. The deteriorating bridge failed to stop a car carrying two teenagers from plummeting off the edge last week.
Allied Painting received a $19,400 contract to repair a 40-foot portion of the rail by Friday. The bridge is currently only open to emergency vehicles, the Press of Atlantic City reports.
A Feb. 17 meeting to receive bids for replacing the current rails with more stable tubular ones will proceed as scheduled.
