Call out
The Philadelphia Police Department has issued an alert that its call center is experiencing problems with incoming cellphone calls.
A release sent out by the department states: “The issue surrounds 911 calls in which the Police dispatcher cannot hear the caller’s voice. However, the caller’s cellular phone number associated with the 911 call is still displayed on the radio dispatcher’s computer screen. For those problematic calls, Police Radio is immediately contacting the callers cell phone from the listed Caller ID number to ensure they receive proper service.”
The department said that Verizon, its service provider, is aware of the problem and is working to resolve the issue
