Bus-truck collision leaves 2 dead, 17 hurt in Pa.

Authorities in eastern Pennsylvania say a head-on crash between a bus and a tractor-trailer has left two people dead and 17 others injured.

Monroe County emergency officials say the crash was reported shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 380 in the Pocono Mountain region about 75 miles northwest of New York City.

A photograph on WNEP-TV’s website shows the tractor-trailer sheared in half. Video from a state traffic camera shows traffic shut down in both directions and emergency workers at the scene.

Officials say many of the injured were reported to be unconscious.

Jeff Strunk of the county 911 center says some of the victims were airlifted to a hospital.

Officials say they don’t know what kind of bus was involved or what company was operating it.
