Boy wounded riding bike in Philadelphia suburbs

    Police have been searching for someone who shot a young boy in the leg as he rode his bike in a Philadelphia suburb.

    Police haven’t released the name of the boy who’s been described as an 8-year-old second-grader by his family and neighbors in North Coventry Township, Chester County.

    Police say the boy was shot near a dance studio that is also near a playground just before 5 p.m. Friday.

    The boy has been taken to a Philadelphia hospital, where his condition wasn’t immediately available.

    The boy’s family say he tried to walk home but fell down due to his wound. A friend who was riding bikes with the boy dragged him to safety then ran for help.
