An early Saturday morning fire significantly damaged an iconic Jersey Shore restaurant, authorities say.

The blaze broke out at Schneider’s Restaurant on Main Street in Avon around 4:30 a.m.

The fire in the Monmouth County borough escalated to three alarms before firefighters got it under control about a half-hour after arrival.

Firefighters remain on the scene as of late Saturday morning, sifting through the smoldering building.

Authorities are investigating the cause. No one was injured.

Schneider’s, known for German-Austrian-Hungarian cuisine and homemade ice cream, has been serving customers for more than 50 years, according to its website.
