Billiards great’s memorabilia goes to public auction

For a handsome sum, you could own the pool cue of famed billiards player Willie Mosconi. His “Balabushka” cue is among the memorabilia going to auction.

The family of the Philadelphia pool player says there just isn’t enough room to store everything, so Masconi’s favorite cue, pool table and other items will be auctioned in Chicago, as the Associated Press reports.

Masconi’s cue is as recognized as his achievements: 15 straight world championships from 1941 to 1957 and 526 straight shots in a two-day exhibition in 1954.

The cue sale could bring in up to $100,000.
