Bill Clinton campaigns for Kathleen Kane in attorney general’s race

Former President Bill Clinton was in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania Thursday night to campaign for Democratic Pennsylvania attorney general candidate Kathleen Kane. 

Clinton criticized the “tough” rhetoric on law enforcement he hears from some Republicans. He said Kane’s focus on child sexual assault, elders and political corruption make her the best candidate for State Attorney General.

“She’s the only person who can say, oh yeah, well I handled 3,000 cases. I’ve put murders behind bars, but I’ve kept kids out of prison. I dealt with the special problems of people with mental health I protected children from abuse and women from violence,” said Clinton. 

At the rally, Kane said too few women get elected to important positions and that protecting children, seniors and the environment would be top priorities. Kane said she is prepared to face Pennsylvania’s legal battles — especially the the case against Jerry Sandusky, the former assistant Penn State football coach accused of sexually abusing boys.

“It is one thing when our pocket books are being stolen from, it is another thing when our trust is being broken and it is far different when you are now hurting our women and our children,” said Kane.

Kane worked for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign. She is a graduate of Temple law school, worked in civil litigation in Philadelphia, and was an Assistant District Attorney in Lackawanna County. 

She’s running against former Congressman Patrick Murphy of Bucks County in the April 24th Democratic primary.
