Biting into business on race day in Manayunk

Despite all of the chaos that the bike race brings to Main Street, local restaurants love all of the business that comes along with it.

A thirty year institution, Sorrentino’s Deli, recently re-opened its doors to race fans, despite the craziness that being right along the Manayunk Wall ensues.

Sorrentino’s catty-corner cheesteak competition, Frak’s Steaks, took its sandwiches to the streets as they opened an outdoor stand to help take on the influx of bike fans.

Newcomer to the area but favorite amongst bikers for a post-race pigout is Machismo’s Burrito Bar. Owner Will Caton talks about coming up with his greatest creation – the “Gringo Gordo” challenge, a five pound burrito of proportions almost as epic as that final climb up the Manayunk Wall.
