Bids for Bala Cynwyd Library project come in far lower than expected

Bids came in late last week for the Bala Cynwyd Library renovation and expansion project, and the total offer is several hundred thousand dollars lower than project estimates.

Now estimated at $5.2 million, the project includes additional space for teens and children, HVAC repairs and a geothermal energy system. The Main Line Times has a breakdown of the lowest bidders for each leg of the project. More than 50 bids came in for the five areas that need attention, and winners are expected to be formally announced at a Nov, 9 township finance committee meeting.

The total of the lowest bids comes in at just more than $4.4 million.
