Both Vice President Joe Biden and the Delaware Department of Justice announced Attorney General Beau Biden will return to Delaware, Thursday, after undergoing a “successful procedure” in Houston yesterday.

“He is in great shape and is going to be discharged tomorrow and heading home to Delaware,” VP Biden said in a statement.

Joe Biden’s son felt weak and disoriented last week during a family vacation, resulting in a stay at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for testing. The vice president accompanied his son to Houston, Monday, and has remained by his side; the younger Biden suffered a mild stroke in 2010. What Beau Biden suffered from last week remains unanswered.

But it appears the attorney general isn’t waiting to return to the First State to get back to work.

“This afternoon, Attorney General Beau Biden spoke with Chief Deputy Attorney General Ian McConnel and State Prosecutor Kathleen Jennings about … the office’s ongoing efforts to … combat violent crime in the City of Wilmington and New Castle County,” said spokesman Jason Miller, adding that the attorney general will speak with his staff again tomorrow after he returns.

AG’s father alters schedule

Vice President Joe Biden canceled an event Thursday in Rhode Island to remain in Houston while his son was being evaluated.

Biden was scheduled to headline a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee at the home of Alison and Bill Vareika. Alison Vareika says the event has been called off. The White House hasn’t said whether Biden’s other appearances Thursday have also been canceled.

On Thursday, Biden was to attend an event at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island and a fundraiser in Maine for New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan. Salve Regina University says Biden may not attend, but the event will occur in his absence. White House spokesman Josh Earnest says Biden is still scheduled to join President Barack Obama in Pennsylvania at a Friday event.

Lewes fundraiser still on

Beau Biden was scheduled to be at a fundraiser for his own re-election campaign Wednesday night in southern Delaware. Admission to the fundraiser at the Lewes Yacht Club in Lewes is $100 per person. Officials with the Biden for Attorney General campaign say reporters are not allowed.

It was not immediately clear whether any member of Biden’s family would appear at the event to speak on his behalf to supporters.

Earlier incident

Authorities say emergency responders were called to the Delaware home of Vice President Joe Biden earlier this month, where Beau Biden has been living while a house he bought is being renovated. An official with the Cranston Heights Fire Company said Wednesday that the department received a call for help from Biden’s home on Aug. 1.

Rickie Clark, a supervisor for the fire department, said the call for help was in reference to someone possibly having a stroke.
