Authorities tranquilize black bear found in yard

    Authorities have tranquilized a 125-pound black bear that was spotted in a yard in Abington Township.

    KYW-TV says police received a call about the bear shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Game Commission also was called to the location in the 900 block of Meetinghouse Road.

    The animal was tranquilized and fell from a tree around 10 p.m. It’s said to be unharmed.

    The television station reports police have received reports of bear sightings in Philadelphia and Montgomery County and are warning residents to be on the lookout.
