Audubon mayor makes ‘gentlemen’s wager’ to support Flacco in Super Bowl

Why does the mayor of Audubon, N.J. care so much whether the Baltimore Ravens win the Super Bowl?

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is an Audubon native.

Aside from the “Big Game Party” the town is holding for this weekend’s game, Mayor John Ward has made a friendly wager with Turlock, Calif., Mayor John Lazar.

Lazar is rooting for the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII, not just because he lives in California. He’s supporting hometown player Colin Kaepernick, the 49ers’ QB.

The “gentlemen’s wager” is simple. Ward and Lazar have agreed that the losing mayor will have to wear the other team’s jersey to their respective towns’ next council meeting.
