Atlantic City’s Showboat welcomes guests with dogs
Showboat’s going to the dogs. Now that the cringe-worthy pun is out of the way, we can tell you the Showboat Casino Hotel in Atlantic City will welcome dogs come the end of this month.
Guests who can’t stand the thought of leaving their furry friends at home while they hit the slots can now bring them along. Reservations begin Feb. 14 for dog-friendly accommodations, which begin Feb. 24.
Dogs are welcome in the nine pet-friendly hotel rooms and common areas like the lobby. But the casino floor, restaurants, bars, spas and retail shops are off-limits. Sorry, no doggy mud masks.
As the Press of Atlantic City reports, Showboat is the first to embark (no pun intended) on this new approach to guest accommodations, and hopes tapping this corner of the market will bring some much-needed tourism into the city.
Dogs are the only pets allowed for now, and the hotel will waive the $40/night fee for the first two weeks. Each room allows for two dogs weighing up to 50lbs. each. You get a mint on your pillow, they get treats, bowls, wastebags, a sleeping mat and keepsake duffel bag.
In honor of the new guests, Showboat will donate $1,000 to the Ocean City Human Society.
