The incident occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. near the corner of Springwood Avenue and Avenue A, authorities said.

According to Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Marc LeMieux, Asbury Park officer Terrance McGhee approached a 20-year-old man near near Springwood and Atkins avenues at 7:19 p.m. and saw a gun.
