As election looms Corbett attacks Wolf tax plan

Republican Gov. Tom Corbett is targeting Democratic challenger Tom Wolf’s plan to overhaul the state income tax in the final weeks of Pennsylvania’s gubernatorial campaign.

Corbett is airing a series of provocative TV spots aimed at voters’ fear of the unknown and their aversion to higher taxes. It appears this will be Corbett’s last, best effort to overcome the double-digit polling deficit he’s been unable to crack since Wolf won a four-way Democratic primary in May.

One Corbett ad claims Wolf has a “secret plan” to increase middle-class taxes.

Wolf says he wants to make the system fairer by requiring wealthier people to pay higher taxes while reducing or eliminating taxes on lower incomes. He says people earning up to $90,000 would pay no more than they currently pay.
