Arrests made in Germantown Avenue carjacking

Philadelphia Police have arrested two men responsible for allegedly shooting a couple and stealing their 2001 Mercury in North Philadelphia early Saturday.

At about 2:40 a.m. Saturday, Tracy Briscoe, 18, and Kareem Long, 20, allegedly approached the vehicle on the 3000 block of Germantown Ave., near Indiana Ave. Police said Briscoe shot through the passenger-side window, injuring the 26-year-old male driver and his 19-year-old girlfriend in the passenger seat. The driver suffered a shot in the chest and right arm, and his girlfriend was hit in the thigh.

Both victims escaped the vehicle through the passenger door as Long jumped in the driver’s seat and drove away in the car. Both victims were transported to Temple University Hospital. They have been treated and released, police said.

Briscoe and Long were arrested minutes after the carjacking in Briscoe’s home on the 2900 block of N. 12th St. Long, from the 2400 block of N. 10th St., was with Briscoe. Both men are being charged with criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault and related charges.
