Around campus
Our coverage wouldn’t be complete without news from the region’s college campuses. We’ve got plenty to choose from, but today’s headline selections come from UDel, Penn and Temple.
“Student arrested for lubricating Newark pariking enforcement vehicle” University of Delaware students are getting creative. A 21-year-old senior got his revenge on the local parking authority by rubbing a gel-like substance on the driver’s side door handle of a parking enforcement vehicle and leaving behind his parking tickets on the windshield. The parking officer was able to identify the suspect, who admitted to leaving the tickets on the windshield. The officer also identified the gel substance: an orange-tinted Vaseline-like substance.
“Say anything | Liz Lemon: grad speaker” The Penn kids have officially put in their bid for the 2011 commencement speaker: Tina Fey. Daily Pennsylvania columnist Jessica Goldstein advocated the bid, which began on Facebook. Only 150 students have joined the cause to bring the Upper Darby native to campus. But alas, the school year is young.
“Freshman initiaes petition to being Wawa to campus” What’s better than two 7-Elevens? A Wawa, according to one Temple freshman and his cause to bring the convenience store to the Main Campus on North Broad Street. An iPetition supporting the idea has garnered 800 signatures, and a related Facebook group has nearly 2,500 supporters. The official word from Temple? They’re open to all possibilities.
