My partner of 25 yrs and I got our Domestic Partnership in D.C. several years ago and would like to know how a DP differs from a civil union. Our DP transfers to Delaware and we would like to know the benefits of doing the CU. Thanks!

NewsWorks asked Brian Sealander of Governor Jack Markell’s staff for an answer.

Anyone interested should check out http://delaware.gov/CivilUnions/. At the bottom of that page is a partial list of jurisdictions that the state has decided, in anticipation of questions like this, are substantially similar. The list includes the District of Columbia.
